About Penny Sweasey

Independent Consultant in Higher Education Academic Development, HE pedagogy and curriculum design, with a focus on enhancement and inclusion. I am a Principal Fellow of the HEA and Senior Fellow of SEDA. I am the Programme leader for SEDA’s online ‘Supporting Leadership and Educational Change’, which confers Fellowship of SEDA. I am an independent End Point Assessor for the L7 Academic Professional Apprenticeship via Advance HEA. I am an External Assessor and Advisor for several CPD and professional recognition schemes, and external examiner for PGCert programmes, and a reviewer for several HE pedagogy journals. From 2012 - 2018 I was Head of Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at Manchester Met University and before that, Associate Dean in the Faculty of Education, leading Initial Teacher Education and Community and Social Work programme areas. From 2018 to 2020 I worked with the University Alliance, leading the Teaching Excellence Alliance programme, developing CPD and networking activity and resources to celebrate the UA student and employer-led approaches to learning and teaching. I am the course leader for the online SEDA Supporting and Leading Educational Change programme, which confers SEDA Fellowship to successful participants (who are largely drawn from the education and academic community). My current research focuses on Academic Leadership of Learning and Teaching, professional recognition (Advance HE and HEA and SEDA)
